Vo2max
Testing my maximal oxygen consumption (Vo2max) right after almost three weeks off the bike may not of been the best time but gives a great idea of what my low basic start point is, It came in at a solid 57.2 ml.kg.min-1.
Monday night we did our first night ride of the year and first xc ride and it was proper wet and windy riding out at Kings Cliff with fellow Trail Head rider Wayne Buckingham. Its a cool spot and much like last time i rode at Kings Cliff it was super muddy and wet, Hope to head back when its dry to slay the singletrack proper.

Sad that i was not up to speed to race round 2, but was pleased they used the same track and that my top speed on the dh section from round 1 was not matched by anyone! lol.

It's official guys... Fabien Barel has left Mondraker.
Its been rumored for a few weeks now and its real, Fabien has parted ways with Mondraker, will this see them faze out the forward geom over the coming years? Did they need the extra cash to lock down a world class DH rider for its world cup team... time will tell, where will Fabien find a ride???

out of soggy round 2
Round 1 of the soggy series has always been a key event, its the last big xc race in the south west for the year and its a key event for a lot of riders and sponsors, Well this weekend its round 2, This always has a very different feel to round 1, Its super early in the year, you dont want to be flying now or you will be blowing come the summer so its very much a catch up with mates and a spin in the mud, I have signed up to ride it this Sunday but having come down with a virus last week i will not be taking part, instead we will be taking a lot more mellow start to the racing/riding year (unlike last year what was full on from Jan), This time it will have a slow build up to what looks to be a packed year of racing and riding.

Gwin joins Specialized
From Specialized:
Specialized is pleased to announce the signing of Aaron Gwin to the 2013 Specialized DH program. Aaron will be supported with frames and tires. He will be joining teammates Troy Brosnan and Mitch Ropelato.
“I’m super excited to start this new chapter in my career with Specialized bicycles. The entire Specialized staff has welcomed me with open arms and I’m blown away by the level of support they’ve shown me. This is my dream program and I can’t thank them enough for this opportunity. Bring on 2013!” -Aaron Gwin
“The combination of Aaron Gwin and the Specialized brand have an American storyline written all over it that was always meant to be. Aaron will not only bring another element to the program, but it’ll be amazing watching this trio ripping down the tracks together. We can’t wait to get started with this new exciting opportunity and look forward to the season ahead.” -Sean Heimdal, Team Manager
“I’m stoked to have a new teammate this year, it will be a fresh start and I will be able to learn a lot of things from Aaron. The season starts late this year and will give everyone time to get to know each other and do testing on the Bike. I cannot wait to work together and smash out runs!” -Troy Brosnan
“We are really excited to have Aaron on board. He has a lot of interest in product development, advocacy, junior development, and so do we. We are looking forward to a very successful future together.” -Geoff Rogers, Specialized Sports Marketing
